Miami University invites applications and nominations for the newly created position of Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellness (AVP). The AVP will provide essential insight as a member of the Student Affairs leadership team. The position requires a strong understanding of and experience with the multidimensional aspects of health and well-being for college students. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellness will provide strategic leadership and visionary direction to the following departments within the Division of Student Affairs: Student Health Services, Student Wellness (including sexual and interpersonal violence SIV prevention and education), the Student Counseling Service, and the soon to be created Healthy Miami Collaborative. The Collaborative is a new initiative, scheduled begin its work under an executive director in Summer 2018, that will focus on a strategic approach to addressing cultural change in the areas of high-risk alcohol use, SIV, and student mental health.
The position provides campus leadership on efforts related to health and wellness; creates and supports programs and services to meet students' needs; provides vision regarding the overall experience of students; and carries out other duties vital to achieving the Student Affairs mission as directed by the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Duties/Physical Demands:
Serve as a member of the leadership team for the Division of Student Affairs. Provide leadership in strategic planning, implementation, coordination, and review of health and wellness-related Student Affairs programs at Miami University.
Carry out a lead role in planning and executing strategic initiatives related to health and wellness, including setting priorities for related offices and managing specific projects.
Supervise and manage the following departments within the Division of Student Affairs: Student Health Services, Student Wellness, and the Student Counseling Center. Assist in setting priorities for resource allocation, facility needs, and service utilization; provide oversight of the formulation and management of budgets. Continually measure and assess progress toward well-conceived and regularly updated strategic goals.
Serve as the University's primary contact with Miami's student health provider (currently Tri-Health), and work with the Director of Student Health Services, and the Miami Budget Office on all aspects of our student health partnership, including planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Work with the VPSA to establish the newly envisioned Healthy Miami Collaborative. The Collaborative is intended to connect existing or new strategy committees and a wide range of concerned stakeholders, including student groups, community resources, and faculty with related research, to address the individual and overlapping issues of high-risk alcohol use, sexual and interpersonal violence, and student mental health.
Establish and maintain strong relationships within Student Affairs as well as with senior officers of the university, faculty, other university departments (including recreation and intercollegiate athletics), and a range of associated stakeholders. Lead the discussion and planning related to the role of health and wellness in academic success.
Represent units under supervision to internal and external constituencies; build relationships in the community, contributing to the positive image of the university and creating connections to local resources and partnerships. Create reports and presentations as needed.
Maintain high visibility within the campus community, particularly with students.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree or equivalent in higher education administration, a health profession, or related field.
Eight or more years of pertinent experience in higher education with increasingly advanced and more responsible administrative and supervisory roles. Demonstrated leadership experience with one or more areas of responsibility.
Excellent communication, strategic planning, assessment, and budgeting skills. Strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to collaboration with a variety of partners on and off campus.
A demonstrated passion for students focusing on their well-being, development and learning, and a personal track record of continuous learning to stay current on new ideas and technologies relevant to the position.
Demonstrated understand of diverse student populations and best practices to support and serve the breadth of students at Miami University.
Ability and willingness to serve in a 24/7 on-call capacity related to emergency response, as needed.
A desire to work in a complex environment that values both data-driven decision making and innovation.
Knowledge of local, regional and national issues, trends, and best practice standards in primary health care, health promotion and prevention, and mental health.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with health insurance, health related technologies, and managed care, as well as knowledge of national certification and accreditation requirements.
Experience in dealing with public health issues, crisis management, and emergency response.
Experience with behavioral intervention teams.
Experience with developing opportunities for grant proposals related to health and wellness areas.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
