Position Description: Regional Orientation Leaders will work SOAR programs at Miami Hamilton and Miami Middletown. Orientation Leaders are positive role models who assist new students in transitioning to Miami University Regionals. Orientation Leaders should have a passion for the Miami Regionals experience, knowledge of campus, a desire to help others, and enjoy working as a part of a team.
Lead a group of 5 - 20 incoming students during the summer 2017 Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) program. This includes presenting information about MyMiami, giving a campus tour, leading icebreakers and discussions, answering questions, etc.
Assist with other duties as assigned (e.g. check-in, stuffing folders, calling students to confirm registrations, directing students) before, on, and after orientation.
Familiarize new students with academic opportunities and procedures, campus services, activities, opportunities, policies, and locations.
Minimum Qualifications:

Good public speaking skills
Miami University Student with preference to students who are on the Regional Campuses
Minimum GPA 2.5.
Attend ALL SOAR programs
Attend SOAR Trainings
Attend ALL SOAR staff meetings.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
