Position is expected to lead various work units and unique operational projects across a broad range of disciplines, crafts, and business units. The position is expected to develop, restructure, and lead a variety of work units and teams throughout the department to a high degree of efficiency as identified through leadership's strategic initiatives. In each assignment, the incumbent evaluates current state business practices and quality of service, determines and plans necessary improvements, and executes improvements in collaboration with the team. Position remains as the day-to-day manager of each assigned work unit until filled with a permanent role. Position oversees and coordinates work of outside contractors. Perform other duties as assigned.
Duties/Physical Demands:
Leadership and Management- ? provides direction, focus, guidance, support, prioritization and oversight for staff in any existing business unit within the department; understands overarching strategic initiatives within the department and develops and implements programs, policies, processes and procedures that result in high levels of organizational performance and effectiveness; acts as a change agent to achieve desired outcomes; and develops assigned staff at each location to consistently deliver the desired outcomes
Safety ? develops a culture promoting employee safety; develops and ensures execution of programs establishing safe work practices; holds employees and supervision accountable for safety; and establishes priority for safety topics and concerns
Continuous Improvement ? performs lean projects and high-level, complex projects and initiatives; capable of understanding business practices and how to drive quality, safety, and productivity across a broad spectrum of units and reporting lines
Customer Service ? establish and promote a high level of customer service throughout facilities operations; actively seek customer feedback and be responsive to needs
Budget Management ? manages operating and capital improvement budgets; ensures funds are spent in accordance with state law and University policy; ensures recoverable costs are budgeted appropriately and captured throughout the fiscal year
Contractor Oversight ? oversees contract administration and hiring of outside contractors
Quality Control ? develops and implements programs, policies and work practices that ensures high degree of quality in work performed by maintenance group and contractors
Record Keeping Function ? Develops work practices that result in accurate and timely tracking of work, labor and material costs; develops/prepares periodic reports detailing performance of the business unit
Personnel Function ? provide professional development of employees; enforces work rules; holds subordinates accountable for effectiveness and efficiency; screens job applicants; makes hiring recommendations; participates in administration of discipline
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience ? bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering discipline is preferred) plus a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in managing a medium or large sized facilities organization; or related associate's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of full-time experience in facilities management; or a minimum of 10 years full-time verifiable experience in facilities management or management of skilled trades technicians
Specific Knowledge ? working knowledge of facility systems; experience in the operation of a modern comprehensive computerized work order system; demonstrated successful experience in setting and achieving goals; demonstrated experience in applying lean methodologies to achieve positive continuous improvement outcomes, demonstrated commitment to customer service
Attention to Detail - ability to maintain detailed and complete records of maintenance and repair activities
Communication Skills - ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of persons
Customer Service Skills ? thorough understanding of modern customer service theories, practices and methods
Managerial Complexity ? must be able to successfully handle multiple tasks at once, and be able to determine appropriate priorities; must be able to make independent interpretations and make appropriate decisions that are in the best interest of the organization and that are consistent with the objectives of upper-management
Computer Skills ? must be proficient in the use of business application software, to include word processor, spreadsheet, and database programs; must be experienced in the use of a computerized maintenance-management software program

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
