Pre-requisites: Must have CPR, First-Aid and BBP certifications. Interest in one or more of the following areas: backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing. Applicants must be able to commit to 2 years of working for the Outdoor Pursuit Center (OPC) Trip Program (4 semesters).
Position Description: Experience is not required (but preferred). In this position you must learn to balance traveling in the outdoors and interacting with people. We are seeking candidates that are safety minded, have good interpersonal skills and are flexible, because nature can be unpredictable. Employment is available mainly during afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Trip staff are used as support staff to Trip Leaders, Master Trip Leaders and Outdoor Instructors working with groups both inside and outside during trip programs which include academic courses (backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, and rock climbing), Field Experiences and adventure trips. These staff report to the Program Director at the Outdoor Pursuit Center. This is an entry level position. Staff are expected to continue their training and as they gain more experience progress to the Trip Leader and then Master Trip Leader positions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Responsibilities:
Assist the Trip Leader in trip planning, preparation and execution.
Complete training requirement steps to become a Trip Leader within 1 semester of hire.
Assist other leaders with post trip wrap up (paperwork, equipment storage and clean up).
Participate in all trip staff training trips and workshops.
Attend trip staff and OPC staff meetings.
Assist in the marketing and recruitment of participants for trip programs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
