Reporting to the Director of Payroll and Accounts Payable the Payroll Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Payroll Office. Oversees under the general supervision of the Director accurate and timely processing of all University payrolls. Responsible for investigating and the recommendation, implementation of appropriate error corrections.



Duties/Physical Demands: ???


? ?Administer and coordinate departmental activities to produce accurate, complete and timely disbursement (ensure deadlines are met) of university payrolls, including garnishments, benefits and taxes.


? ?Supervision (e.g. contribution to performance reviews, time off requests, training)?of?Payroll staff (hourly and salaried).


? ?Manage Payroll office workflow, critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend best practices and implement changes leading to more efficient/lean operations.


? ?Oversees with Director processes related to international taxation.


? ?Participate in?the coordination, testing and implementation of payroll system enhancements, test system upgrades to ensure database integrity, and coordinate creation of reports.


? ?Participate in annual fiscal year-end closing and external audit.


? ?In conjunction with Director monitor and interpret federal, state and local payroll related regulations to ensure University compliance. Resolve issues and respond to inquiries.



Minimum Qualifications:


? ?Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources or a related field.? Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.


? ?At least five (5) years of experience in a payroll, accounting, finance,?human resources and/or related business function.



Preferred Qualifications:


? ?APA or other payroll/accounting certification.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
