Job Description Summary:
Job ID = 6494 Join our small yet dynamic team specializing in the preservation and conservation of library and archival materials. This position is great for either undergraduate or graduate students looking for hands-on experience in a preservation lab, and is well-suited for anyone interested in museum studies, preservation/conservation, and/or history.
Depending on the successful candidates availability, this position requires 8-15 hours per week which must be completed Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am-5pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform basic book repairs
Construct custom protective boxes
Apply protective book covers
Encapsulate rare maps, posters, and manuscripts
Digitization and preservation of historic materials to include the operation of high-end digital cameras and flatbed scanners, image quality care, and metadata indexing
Creation of custom exhibition cradles and labels
Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate must:
Have good manual dexterity and attention to detail
Have the ability to work well independently
Be dependable and possess a good work ethic
Additional skills that would be helpful include:
Interest in preservation / conservation, museum studies, and/or history
Knowledge of the proper handling of fragile documents and artifacts
Knowledge of image color correction; Photography; Digital Photo editing
Minimum Qualifications:
Attention to detail; Good manual dexterity; Ability to work independently; Dependability and reliability.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
